• Social Studies

In the social studies department, students will complete three required, year-long courses as a core component of their junior high education.  Students will learn content focused on the social sciences, including history, economics, political science, civics, geography, world religions, psychology, sociology, and anthropology.  These courses emphasize skills specifically related to social science, and infuse literacy skills and current events.

Students have the opportunity to participate in extension activities at each grade level.  In the seventh grade, students can compete in the National Geographic Geography Bee, and participate in a world simulation activity.  Eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate in the Medieval Times field trip, while freshman students have the option of enhancing their civic education by traveling to Washington, D. C.
